Over 15,000 piles cast and delivered over 18 weeks

Centrum Pile have completed supplying ground engineering contractor, Aarsleff Ground Engineering, with over 15,000 piles for their job in the South West.

An 18-week programme alongside the large number of piles needed meant that this job was one of the most logistically challenging projects in Centrum UK’s history.

In total, 716 300mm types 12 piles, 1,300 250mm type 6 piles, and 13,200 250mm type 4 piles were supplied over the project’s duration. Throughout the course of the project, Aarsleff received variations of over £700k, requiring Centrum to cast and supply additional, specially cast piles which had not been previously planned for. This was all handled smoothly and in a timely manner, ensuring the client had no delays on their site.

A key theme for the end client of this scheme is sustainability. The units are looking to target a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ upon completion, as well as an EPC ‘A’ rating. There have been a number of sustainable solutions built into the project, including solar panels, rooflights, and EV charging points.

Centrum has been proud to contribute to this effort by providing full CO2e data for the piles on site, as well as their transport from our Newark factory. This is a Centrum first and we look forward to the ability to deploy this to all our customers as we continue with our sustainability efforts.

Overall, the project has been rewardingly challenging and we look forward to further demonstrating our logistical operational excellence on other large schemes.
